Junior Program
Junior Team Tennis (JTT)
Junior Team Tennis (JTT) is a USTA program that gives kids the opportunity to play tennis in a fun, team-based environment. It fosters camaraderie, teamwork, and sportsmanship as players compete in singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches against other local teams. Players gain exposure to different styles of play while building lifelong skills on and off the court.
Teams are grouped by age and skill level, offering a balanced and fun competitive experience. JTT emphasizes sportsmanship, friendship, and personal growth while providing a pathway for more competitive players to advance to higher levels of competition.
Why Choose Team Tennis?
- More Matches: Unlike regular tournaments where players pay $60–$100 for one match (and may be eliminated after one round), Team Tennis guarantees multiple matches throughout the season.
- Dual Rankings:Matches count toward both USTA rankings and UTR ratings. (USTA and UTR are now collaborating again!)
- Player Development:More match play = faster growth, better skills, and real-world experience in competition.
- Team Environment:Players develop sportsmanship, teamwork, and friendships — building a love for tennis in a positive atmosphere.
- Opportunity to Advance:Top-performing teams qualify for local Championships and can advance to Sectionals at Indian Wells Tennis Garden.
Skill Development: Kids enhance their tennis skills through regular practice and competitive team matches. Playing against peers in a team setting helps improve technique, strategy, and overall performance.
Teamwork and Sportsmanship: Unlike individual tournaments, JTT emphasizes the value of teamwork. Kids learn to cooperate, support their teammates, and develop strong sportsmanship skills that extend beyond the tennis court.
Healthy Competition: JTT fosters a positive and supportive competitive environment, encouraging players to challenge themselves without the pressure of solo performance.
Building Friendships: The team-based structure helps players build friendships and create memorable experiences through a shared love of tennis.
Life Skills: Being part of a team teaches responsibility, time management, and perseverance. Kids learn how to balance practice with school and other activities while committing to their team.
Pathway to Advancement: JTT can be a stepping stone to higher levels of competition, such as USTA tournaments and more advanced teams. Players gain valuable exposure and match experience.
Fun and Fitness: JTT combines physical fitness with fun. Kids stay active, improve their health, and develop a lifelong love for tennis in a positive, engaging environment.
